Grassroots Manager, Credit Union National Association
Kristen Prather has served as Grassroots Manager for the Credit Union National Association (CUNA) for the past four years. In this capacity, she oversees all advocacy efforts for the organization,, including action alerts to Congress, “Operation Comment” calls to executive branch financial departments, state fly-ins called Hike the Hill, and Project Zip Code (PZC).
PZC, a program she is especially proud of, is a credit union member legislative matching and census program. Since beginning at CUNA, the PZC program has grown by hundreds of credit unions and millions of members. CUNA’s online advocacy programs have grown exponentially and over half a million messages are sent to lawmakers annually.
Prior to joining CUNA, Kristen was the Political Affairs Manager at the Independent Insurance Agents and Brokers where she handled the day to day fundraising for InsurPac. While only there for a year, she regularly surpassed fundraising goals and raised $500,000 in the first four months of 2008.
Kristen has also worked for National Environmental Strategies as a staff assistant. Her many internship experiences include the DC office of Congressman Ralph Regula, Elizabeth Dole for Senate 2002, and several school board and school levy campaigns for Marlington Local Schools in her hometown, Alliance, OH.
She is a 2004 graduate of Catawba College with a dual B.A. in American Politics and American History. When not working, you’re likely to find her at a NASCAR race or exploring the Civil War history of Virginia.
